While we have been in Jaco, Costa Rica we have been attending Horizon Church. Horizon has been a little taste of home and I have taken each opportunity to serve that I can get in my grasp. Some of the ways I have served in the church during our time here have been doing tech on Sundays, serving with the children’s ministry, and even cleaning up the prenatal center. If you know me, I love hanging out with the little ones. A couple of weeks ago one of the church leaders asked me if it was possible for me to take pictures of the children’s programs… how could I say no? It was such a pleasure getting to work with the church and with the kids! In the midst of going from room to room, I interacted with the children and their activities. The main passage they were learning about was John 12 where Jesus predicts His crucifixion. I got to sit with two 7-11 year-olds and read this passage with them and it was so sweet seeing their faces glow with curiosity for Jesus. Each Sunday looks different, but this one I will cherish forever. Check out all the fun pictures below of what serving with the children’s ministry has looked like:

Kevin was helping serve with the younger group and assisting with the craft.

Sarah was also lending a hand with the younger group, it was so sweet to see my squadmates interact with the kids.

Victoria volunteered to demonstrate part of a story for the 7-11 year-olds. Laughing with this group was a blast!

Micah found something that he wanted to share with the whole group, one of my favorite things is when kids’ hearts are on fire for Christ!

Victoria sat with one of the girls and read over John 12 alongside her.

Please join me in prayer over the rising generations. Pray that they are deeply rooted in God’s immeasurable love. Pray that each child is wrapped in God’s good graces and they know how nothing can compare to what the Lord has for them. Father, please remind each of your children that their identity and worth are in you and you alone. Lord, I praise you for what you are doing in their lives and I’m grateful for what you will continue to do as they grow up. We love you and we worship you.

with all my love,

PJ
